Anyone know why Freddie withdrew?

Re: Pebble Beach: Why did Freddie Couples Withdraw?

Most likely was his back acting up. Could be others though but historically, his back is usually the problem.

Probably the wet and cold weather acting on the back. Its a shame he is truly a great player

I agree, I truly love watching him play....but when he plays, it's a crapshoot how he'll do with that back.

Anyone who has ever experienced severe back pain can sympathize with Freddie. I'm sure if there was any way he could have continued, he would have.

He's still one of my favorite pro's to watch.

I can only imagine that the cold damp weather would affect a bad back and that would be no fun to play in that type of pain.

Hopefully Fred Couples doesen't turn into chronic withdrawer. I remember one year Dudley Hart had back problems and withdraw from what seemed like a dozen of events. When you have that much pain, just take the year off. Seriously, no need to waste spots in the field.

Re: Pebble Beach: Why did Freddie Couples Withdraw?

I watched Freddie beat John Daley a few weeks ago on TV on the Shell's Wide World of Golf challenge....he beat Daley by like 7 strokes on some course in Oregon for his 5th win in that series (he's made more money on the Shell's challenge and in the Skins games than many other golfers make in their career on tour, lol). He looked really good, drives hitting long, in the fairway, chipping it close to the hole, putting well.
