LPGA Jamie Farr Classic

Paula Creamer just finished her first round in a course record 60(-11). That's 11 birdies and 7 pars. She has a 5 stroke lead. The top of the leaderboard is full of gals I've never heard of and 5-time winner of this event Se Ri Pak. Michelle shot a -1, FWIW. She hit only 6 fairways and 10 greens which is not a good omen of things to come. I guess her short game saved her today.

She's a Thai rookie... I just had to go look that one up. The gals always tear it up at this event. Se Ri has 4 61s here over the years. I should go check it out one of these days. It's only an hour away.

And she looked pretty good doing it too! I saw that she shot 27 on the back nine. Very impressive. Since she already has two wins this season, and she's full of confidence, she's primed to win another one (if not the JFC).

Yes she sure did. And how about that 20' birdie putt on 18 that got her to -11 ? It must have had 7' of break. And apparently the Pink Panther is the Owens Corning mascot/logo so we can expect to see the pink all weekend.

That was a sweet putt. Paula's been stroking it pretty good since her choke in the playoff with Annika. I'd like to see her make #2 in the world.

Michelle just slipped one outside the cutline with 4 to play. Been close throughout the round.
Stacy Lewis doing very well. Having great round, and good chance of making lots of cash towards a tour card.

Re: LPGA Jamie Farr Classic

Paula followed up yesterday's 60 with a smooth 65. She's -17(125). That has to be very close to a record, if not one. She's 6 clear of Eun-Hee Ji... another of the seemingly endless supply of Seoul Sisters and 10 clear of everyone else. Ji, in her 2nd year, won her 1st last month so this one isn't over yet. Though it may be for Ms. Wie who's right on the cut line with 3 holes left.

She just slipped back under it with a bird on 15(#6). Way too many bogies for our Michelle, though... 7 over 33 holes.

Good to see Paula playing so well. She must really feel good putting on these greens.

Still there with two to play. A par 3, then the par 4 9th that she bogeyed in round 1.

Stacy is -5 for the round though, and into the top 5.

Re: LPGA Jamie Farr Classic

Well Michelle made the cut on the mark. Holding it together at least gives the opportunity for 2 further competitive rounds of golf. She won't much money though from this tournament.
Stacy on the other hand has a good chance to make some decent cash, although prize money drops steeply outside the top 5, so she needs to play well.

That's really what Michelle needs...tournament experience again under her belt, in a competitive environment.

Good work by Paula Creamer on the fine play thus far. Hope she continues to play well through the weekend.

The 36 hole record is 124 by Annika and Meg Mallon.

Re: LPGA Jamie Farr Classic

Is Paula cracking?
+2 for her round.
Luckily for her, the girl who was 4 behind her is only even for her round.
Everyone else started way back but Feng is having a good round, to close to just two behind.

1 Paula Creamer +2 12 -16
T2 Shanshan Feng -4 14 -14
T2 Eun-Hee Ji E 12 -14
4 Nicole Castrale -6 16 -13

Paula has 6 holes to go. Can she hold the lead?

Stacy went back during the final round +3 for the round, a lost opportunity on her quest to gain lots of cash towards a tour card. She still has 4 more lpga exemptions though.

Wie finished +1, not bad really, four similar round scores: 70, 72, 71, 72.
Next weeks State Farm course alledgedly has wider fairways!

Hey, Paula just got a birdie, 3 clear with 5 to play, should be okay!

Re: LPGA Jamie Farr Classic

That's number 7 for Creamer who is still 21, an age when Annika & Lorena were still a couple of years from their first. She was +1 for the weekend but that's what you get to do when you go out in -17. Nobody seriously challenged her. Congrats to the Pink Panther on her 3rd of the year and good luck at the British.

Absolutely...hard to stay hot for that long. The next stop for her is to seriously challenge at a major, which she has not really done. Let's hope the British is that event. This was a good win for her though.

Paula should really challenge there. I followed her around at St. Andrews for quite a while last year, and she was very good from the bunkers and had a lot of imagination around the greens, surprisingly good actually.
The real question marks are around Lorena. If she has her game back, she can blitz the field again.

When Paula is on, there's only one person that can beat her. She just needs to be "on" in the final round a bit more often.
