PGA John Deere Classic

Ken Duke has the early lead at -7. But Kenny Perry, who's apparently determined to continue his assault on the scrubs of the tour, is only 1 back ... ironically 1 ahead of Chris Riley, both of whom reported that they were "really bushed" after today's round.

Save your angry cards & letters KP fans, it was a joke.

Very nicely done, Waz!

I remember when Riley said he could possibly play 18 holes during the Ryder Cup if they absolutely needed him to! Hhahahaaaaaa.

Re: PGA John Deere Classic

Kenny Perry is still playing well, trailing only surfer dude Will McKenzie and a handful of other Nationwide regulars.

Re: PGA John Deere Classic - Kenny almost blew it.

Well, first Kenny almost blew it on the 72nd hole...could have won it. Was 1-ft off the green, about 20 ft from the flag, chips is past and ends up almost same distance/position away on the other side of the green...then chips it shot and had to make a 5-6 footer to tie for the lead.

Then in playoff...well, Adomonis and Williamson put their 2nd balls in the water leaving Kenny free to hit the green and 2 putt for the win.

Yes, the epic Battle of the Also-Rans.
Perry's engine started sputtering and two challengers crash and burn shortly after takeoff. The only thing missing was a Kazoo accompaniment.

All in all, it was about as exciting as watching maple syrup drip off a teaspoon.
Tell me, does Kenny Perry actually have a personality? I can't tell because whether he wins or loses his expression is always the same.

Tiger's coming back, when?

Re: PGA John Deere Classic

It's Kenny Perry's world. Tiger got out just in time. Someone explain to me again how much tougher it is to win these days... what with all of the great depth on tour, as opposed to say 30 years ago.... when I don't recall too many journeymen 40-somethings winning very often.

Re: PGA John Deere Classic

Greetings ...

Congrats to Kenny Perry - exempt on tour now thru 2012, and leading both the Money and Fed Ex Cup lists -- ahhh, "after the fact", so to speak. I think he smiles just fine!

Thanx-A-Lot, FrankoSport

Granted, you have to bear in mind these are some of the weakest fields he's beating, and just barely at that. It's not like he's winning majors - oh wait, Kenny doesn't play in majors.

On the PGA Tour a win is a win...........and points is points.

Kenny has won 3 times this year. If it's so easy why don't more guys do it?

Re: PGA John Deere Classic

Byron Nelson had his historic season back in 1943. It just so happened that a majority of his fellow competitors were over in Europe fighting WWII. Yet very few golf annals feel the need to invoke that asterisk in their footnotes.

Obviously Kenny Perry is no Byron Nelson. But the strength of the field argument really doesn't fly with me. Because if someone can name me a player in the world that is playing better than Kenny currently, I'm all ears.

Besides that, a month ago we were all wondering if anyone would take advantage of Tiger's absence. It appears someone has, and it gets overlooked as a meaningless victory, in what will ultimately be a meaningless season in their minds.

He's arguably the hottest player in golf, and instead of playing the British Open or the U.S. Open he's playing the U.S. Bank Championship and the Traveler's Championship.

You tell me.

That's what I'm saying, so why is he cherry-picking weak fields? Why not step up to the plate with the big kids, all of whom - ALL of whom - are playing the British this week.

Word has it that Kenny had changed his mind as was going to play in the Open Championship this week............until he heard that sticking to his original schedule bothers you so much.

You would think it would bother him more that he's blowing his best chance to win a major - they were saying yesterday this is a draw-course, a right-to-left course, just like the U.S. Open.

But hey, maybe Kenny can take home that Greater Milwaukee Open trophy...

"Champion Golfer of the Year.......Kenny Perry" just doesn't have that ring to it. Know what I mean?

I like his chances better in Milwaukee and apparently, so does he.

Hey, it might not have that ring, and Kenny Perry might be a better golfer than Ben Curtis, but I can tell you one thing that Ben's going to be remembered for that Kenny ain't, no matter how well he plays at Valhalla.
