Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

I think we can all now agree(well, maybe not rodney) that she withdrew b/c of the 88 rule and not b/c of her wrists. Now I'm kinda curious to see what the touring pros have to say about the whole situation. Will they wreck her or giver the benefit of the doubt....should be interesting.

They'll probably be professional about it and not be too harsh. Unlike us, they can't speak freely without possible retribution from others.

Anyway, you can all give yourselves ulcers over this but I won't that's for sure.
"Middle of the round" doesn't explain +7 after 5. No ulcers here rodney but your girl lost a lot of credibility today. She may practice tomorrow and may play next week? Yeah, she wasn't aware of the 88 rule.

Whether or not she would've been banned is irrelevant to me. The fact that she quit when faced with adversity, blamed it on a tweaked wrist, and yet "may practice tomorrow" is an integrity issue. Isn't 17 years old is a little too young to start acting like John Daly?

Hey, John Daly played his way onto the Tour and earned his keep out there.

She's a long way from "acting like John Daly".

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

She pulled it at the John Deere and now the Ginn. She knows how to use the W/D's to benefit her. If the wrist was that bad why did she quit with a couple of holes to go instead of when it started bothering her which was before she teed off for the day on 1.

There maybe a comment or two to the outside world, but it will probably be muted in terms of public comments. Amongst themselves, however, they'll slaughter her. Her peers know what she did and why. They resent the out of her for how she gets into fields to begin with, but when she bags it facing the 88 rule they will be unmerciful.

Her career is over, she has gone the way of Ty Tryon. Two years from now she'll be shooting 80 on the Asian tour. John Daly will give her tips on how to stay in the limelight.

Maybe Daly can get her a job at Hooter's...near my house?

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

I think part of this frustrating situation is cultural. Asian girls are typically over-protected and soft, even into their mid-twenties. While she has grown up in Hawaii, she still has been told "xiao-xin" (well, that's Mandarin-find the equivalent in Korean...) since she was a baby. "Be careful", whenever there is any semblance of danger. Consequently, inside she's just not tough-and she needs to be as hard as rock to beat herself, and to beat the other pros. She's also been groomed and protected and had untold amounts of money spent on her. She needs to realise she's not a princess and she's not entitled. She needs to get rough and tough.

I still wish her well and can ignore all of this, because she's still young and well intentioned. But, she's going to give herself troubles down the road if she keeps messing up her opportunities.

BTW, earlier I did say I thought she should be at graduation, and focusing on strengthening her wrists, not playing......

Maybe you've missed Daly's habit of quitting when his score balloons. Wie has proven that she can play on the LPGA Tour.........just not lately.

Don't you just love a good cat fight.

Maybe after today's shennanigan a new chapter should be added here:

Amazon.com: Michelle Wie: The Making of a Champion: Books: Jennifer Mario

Perhaps Wie should follow the instruction given in the line above the picture of the book.

Wie is dogmeat....she's gone

All the excuses, all the free rides, I am SICK of her! She tries to play the men (remember the dream of winning the MASTERS? HA!!!) and can't even compete against the women! The way her money-hogging dad forced her into what she is now is starting to take its toll. She is most likely resenting him for missing out on her high school years-GROWING UP NORMALLY. C'mon folks, why the **** should she be able to play in PGA tourneys when she can't even FINISH LPGA tourneys? And before you start the 'well she's injured' responses, just count up all the excuses she's used in the past, her money-grubbing 'father' (and I use that term loosely), etc. Face it.....she is GONE. And to the blind people who think she is pretty, when she hits a bad shot and sulks there are fish that are prettier than her. Her mouth is that of a spoiled kid who has ALWAYS gotten her way and SUDDENLY is facing reality. GO AWAY!!!!

Why would you hate a teenage girl? That's just strange- IMO.

How does anything she does affect you in any way?

I'd tell you to GET A LIFE...but that would be rude.

Re: Wie is dogmeat....she's gone

While I may not agree with the treatment that she is given, cheering her misfortune and relishing in some recent failures is not right. I'm sure that we have all made some mistakes in judgement at the age of 17, yet we didn't have media covering every move that we make. I hope that she goes on to have a great career, as long as that is what she wants to achieve.

Re: Wie is dogmeat....she's gone

Golf is Golf..if she wants to play with the boys let her, if she wants to play with the ladies let her. She hasnt shot a good score no matter what tour she has been on lately so it really doesent matter much. But i dont see the problem with her playing with the men if she wants to.

She has shown a great deal of ability already, far more than most players. Her track record in LPGA events has shown that she will win in the future on that tour. While I agree with many that say she should not play in any more men's events. Your initial comments just seemed a bit harsh and celebratory about her having a rough spot in her game, something that everyone of us has had happen.

Gone? Not even I would suggest that. Sounds to me like your venom is a cover. Come on, admit it. You've got a crush on her.
