That's pretty negative and wrong. Contrary to popular opinion they did not push her to play after her first injury. They simply let her make her own decisions, and after all, how many commentators and "experts" said that the best way to develop a player, was for them to make their own decisions.
Well they did let her make her own decisions, be they not wise decisions.

This time, her parents made the decision instead, and it is a better decision. So why is Dottie attacking her parents yet again? Well, she has been attacking them since Michelle was 14 years old, so old habits die hard.

Here's something else for your reading pleasure, Sir Rodney... what's your take on this man's article?

More than a Wie bit concerned - Roy S. Johnson blog - Yahoo! Sports

She's only 18.

She's only 18.

She's ...

If I keep saying it (OK, typing it), maybe I'll stop thinking that we've seen the best of Michelle Wie. Maybe I'll not acknowledge that feeling in my gut that the young woman TIME magazine once declared as "one of 100 people who would shape our world," whom Arnold Palmer once said might influence golf as much as Tiger Woods "or more," may not reshape anything at all – except her already-sizable bank account.

I don't think there was anything wrong with his article.
He discussed some facts and gave some opinions, and pretty well thought out opinions. He didn't try to exagerate anything, or make up lies unlike Ron Sirak and one or two others.

I vote for this post to be placed into the GRW post hall of fame.

Hall of Fame? Nah.........certainly the Rodney_c wall of fame though. It's not quite enough to balance the room but it's a start.

I thought it must be a historical post because he really didn't see anything wrong with what the author wrote. That should be good for something special.

Re: Michelle Wie, Robin Lopez Apparently A Hot Item

Ramona Shelburne of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED pens a piece on a day in the life of Stanford’s 7-foot-1 basketball brothers Brook & Robin Lopez.

While skimming through the tall tales of Disney infatuation and Michael Jackson fandom, we came across a short blurb of interest:

Robin is dating Stanford’s current most famous female coed, golf phenom Michelle Wie, although both have tried to keep things as quiet as possible.

Being a sports celebrity in her own right, it figures that if Michelle was going to hook up with anyone at school, it would be with the Big Man On Campus. Literally.

Wonder what kind of review process Robin had to go through to get Mr. & Mrs. Wie’s approval to date their daughter - considering these are the same parents that bought a house in Palo Alto just to keep a closer eye on her.

And that’s assuming Wie’s folks even know they’re dating. If they don’t, well - surprise!

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

I know that in many Asian cultures parents like to maintain more control over their kids lives. But Michelle is an American born & bred, away at college, she's 18, good looking and a millionaire. You only go around once. Have fun Michelle.

I normally avoid this thread like the plague but here is David Leadbetter on Wie:

Leadbetter on Wie: “from a world beater to someone who can hardly make the cut.” - Robert Thompson - Going for the Green - OntGolf.ca

Have at it.

Leadbetter has had one success - Nick Faldo - that made his reputation.

It's a real pity MW went to him as it was when Ernie did so too. BTW Robert Thompson should do some research Ernie has not been "working with Leadbetter for 20 years".

A bit of a filler article IMO

I guess they didn't tell her they would be "mini golf" courses and they expect to use windmills and clowns.

All joking aside...REALLY? Someone with NO track record to speak of gets $50 million to design her first 3 courses EVER??? That's not just someone with more money than brains...that's someone with money and NO brains.

Get with the program will ya! Clowns and windmills have been replaced by floppy hats and dangly earrings.

I got a kick out of that too! She says herself that she'd always wanted to understand how golf courses are designed! Well, now someone is going to pay you $50 MILLION to figure it out! My goodness it must be nice to have enough money to be able to just throw it at people.

A Wie designed course will probably pay for itself tenfold. Just on curiousity itself. So I wouldn't say they're throwing the money away.

In some startling news, Michelle Wie has announced a deal with oil billionaire Alrip Lofo, to design 3 golf courses in Dubai.
Interesting name that guy has.

Google a bit and you might even find news of Tiger's immenant retirement from golf to pursue a tennis career.
