Something else that came to mind today re: the card incident...

I personally though she did it on purpose to irritate pops. But now I've thought of another reason - if she had God forbid won the tournament, she'd be faced with LPGA membership, which she clearly wants as much as terminal cancer. If she actually just got it all of the sudden, what would she do, turn it down? "I know I won, and that makes me an LPGA Tour member, but really, no thanks"?

She's like most other teenagers - she wants to do what she wants, when she wants, and she doesn't want anyone else to have any say in it; the only difference is she gets $20 million a year for playing golf 4 or 5 times. If she were actually to become a member of the LPGA Tour, she would actually have to play more than once every 3 months, couldn't churn out her sideshow appearances, etc.

Whatever. She's gonna get creamed in Reno.
I'm not sure I buy the intentional thing...but I guess you can't totally discount the theory, either.

+1 through 2 holes.

Maybe that's because Wie has done so much to earn the respect of one of the classiest golfers in the world. Wie has not yet learned that you reap what you sow but that lesson is coming and I expect it to be painful.

League, mid-round isn't the time to be discussing things like that, but let me assure you, you are very far wide of the mark.

Back to the Wie show. Are you surprised that she is even par through 10 holes?
Early days, but are you surprised?

Even through 10 and you want a reaction? Talk to me after tomorrow's round. I'll let you know then if I'm surprised or not.

+1 on the day is better than I expected. Now let's see if she can do it again tomorrow. T77 won't make the cut, but it gives her a chance to make it tomorrow if she can follow up today's round with another good one. We'll see.

You aren't classless before a round and full of class after; Michelle has shown a lack of class towards her peers and the greats of the woman's game regardless of what she shoots today or any other day.

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

If Wie wins the event she will have a 2 year PGA tour exemption. What a good bonus if she pulls it off.

She should basically just ignore the LPGA Tour altogether at that point.

We were actually referrring to Annika. Try to get a clue what is being discussed before you comment.

It's the perfect time to be discussing Wie and how she was doing.
Again, try to improve your comprehension skills before posting.

Sometimes I really wonder why I waste my time.
League mentioned Annika's great classiness. I said Annika doesn't have as much class as you might think, but now is not the time to get into a discussion about Annika's class (in other words I'm not interested in discussion Annika's class right now (midround), but I will discuss it later).

You mistook it to be a discussion about Michelle, and when I corrected you, you still didn't get it.

Keep the faith guy.........keep the faith.

Wie has "basically ignored the LPGA" for quite some time now. The LPGA is starting to return the favor.

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

I will admit that Michelle made some great shots yesterday and for the most impressed me that her level has elevated some from what it had been but she is still inconsistent. She almost had me thinking she could make it on the Japan tour.

Re: Michelle Wie 24/7

If Wie's goal was to get herself back in the news then she succeeded by playing in the Reno-Tahoe. She played considerably better than she has in the recent past and still managed to shoot 80 in a situation where a good round would've given her a shot at the cut.

Let's think about that for a moment.........A shot at the cut in a third tier, no-name PGA Tour event versus the opportunity to compete in a Women's major championship. Tell me again why she didn't try to qualify for the Women's Open Championship?

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that Wie is simply giving her sponsors what they want? Wie had absolutely no shot at doing anything in this PGA Tour event other than attracting media attention. To that end, mission accomplished. How'd that work out for you Michelle?

On the other hand, playing well and possibly contending for a major championship (again, based on her recent play) may have very well restored confidence not only in herself but with her many fans as well. A Top 10 finish in the Women's Open Championship would've quite likely put the past two years behind her. Life is about making good choices and if Wie made this one (as she claims she did) then it was a poor one.

We know Wie can't compete with the men and now I'm beginning to wonder if she can compete against the women.
