Scotland - East Lothian

East Lothian is a short distance east of Edinburgh. The golfing capital in Gullane ,where I stayed in an excellent cheap and clean hotel .

The Mallard Hotel Gullane Scotland

Main golf courses I can recommend are

Gullane Golf Club - three courses, 1 ,2 ,3 .
1 is the main course and highly rated,2 is very good and 3 while short is worth playing.

North Berwick is a traditional links course and highly rated.
Also in North Berwick is the Glen ,which is tough .Other recommended courses include Dunbar and Luffness.

The main reason for playing there is Muirfield , in everyone's top three courses in the world (well anyone who has played there, Watson,Nicklaus,Faldo etc)

You can play Tuesday or Thursday but need to book months in advance. Otherwise, you are not allowed past the gate...................

When the wind blows it is a very different game,a good three wood goes 280 + with the wind and 160 into it.
