F-2 wedges

f-2 Wedges. You've seen the info-mercials on the golfchannel about these. As far as I can see, the only real difference is that it's "shank-proof" (Although don't bet on THAT with my swing!) Supposedly won't get grabbed by tall rough. OK. Maybe. But is there something else going on with the 'face-forward' design that might make them better? Like, you might hit the ball on the downswing more consistently because the face is closer to the ball than your old wedges, or something?

What do you think? Anyone tried these things?

Play on!
Peter

Re: F-2 wedges

I think the most important thing in these wedges is that they are cavity backs. There will always be more forgiveness because of that.

My wedges are also cavity backs and I hit them better than a blade equivalent.

Re: F-2 wedges

I had to reshaft one for someone and took it out on the range to test the "shankproof" guarantee. I did everything I could and was not able to shank this wedge. You can still hit it thin/fat, unless you lead with the hosel, you can't shank the ball. Not a fan of the look, but they seem to be effective at doing what they promise.

Re: F-2 wedges

I looked at one of these things at golfsmith and almost puked. I have no idea how I could ever hit one of those, its completely whacked looking.

Im not one of those people who wont play a club because of the wierd look or sound either (see square drivers). If I think it will help my game then I will certainly give it a try. But this thing is just hideous and im thinking it may mess up your swing with other irons becuase of the setup?
