Re: Driver Off the Carpet.

I don't need to do it. I have a Taylor Made strong 3 wood (13.5 degree) that has a low, boring trajectory that I can hit 250 including roll. If I can't get home in 2 with that weapon, then it's a 3 shot hole all the way.

Re: Driver Off the Carpet.

I was actually thinking about this thread today when I went out and played and figured I'd try hitting my driver off the deck to see how it would go. And you know what? I really liked the results.

I realized the other day that I hardly ever hit any mid irons when I'm playing my local course here at Hickam. So, I decided to play the back tees today to see if I can get some practice in with my 3-7 irons. Two of the par fives are very reachable for me with a driver+iron. So, today I tried hitting a 3 wood off the tee and driver in the fairway. I hit the ball a bit lower than I would off of a tee but nearly the same distance after rolling out.

The only two people I've ever really seen hit their drivers off the deck well are Pistol and Mr. Bogey, all others have failed miserably. So I think that if I hit my driver that successfully off the turf than I am doing a pretty good job!

I think its a very handy shot with the winds here in Hawaii.

Mr. Bogey is one of the best I've ever seen with a driver off the deck. He has a 10 degree Callaway Titanium and he hits it around 250 yards and almost as high as a normal 3 wood.
