Re: Callway X-Forged

I got to hit them on the range, not enough to rate them. They felt great, the thinnest top line I have ever seen on a Cally club. They still have the notch in the bottom for added forgiveness but you can shape the flight a lot better with the X Forged than with the X Tour irons.

Re: Callway X-Forged

I tried my friend's out today on the range (5,6,7,9,PW), Stiff shaft. They have a small footprint and a thin topline. However, when you hit it square, it has awesome feel/feedback. It has a similar size to the Mizuno MP-67s but it is more forgiving (given that is more of a cavity back rather than 'cut muscle'.

I don't practice enough to justify playing the 'player's clubs'. I just enjoy the forgiveness of 'off centered hits'.

After hitting those, I felt like I was swinging a Hummer H2 with my own clubs (MX-900).

Re: Callway X-Forged

I love them, they are awesome clubs. I have them in 3-PW with Project X 6.0 flighted. I find them easier to hit than my Titleist DCI blades and they are easier to work than my Titleist DCI blades.

The flighted shaft is nice helping you get it up faster with the longer irons and have a nice boring trajectory with the short irons.

I'll give it a 5.

Re: Callway X-Forged

A Callaway tent set up at my local course on Saturday and I got an opportunity to hit with them. I hit them with Project X 6.5 shafts and they felt awesome. I did hit a couple off center and it made me glad that I play Mizuno MX-25s, but I wish I had these X-Forged in my bag when I was hitting the ball pure. I really liked the way it felt on impact as well as the smooth divot it took with the shorter irons. If I was a better player, I'd definately consider this iron.

Re: Callway X-Forged

hi, i love these irons when i tried them. i also have mx 25s. i was really having problems with my swing for about a month and i'd lost all confidence in the r7's i was using. i know it wasn't the clubs at fault but when i hit the demo x-forged, within 3 shots my swing was back. i extensively tested the demo twice a week for a month and found that although it was the perfect club for sweet strikes if you are slightly off i would lose ten yards. thats why i opted for the mx 25's. things were going great for a while, then i lost my swing again. back to the shop, 3 swings later with x-forged demo and my swing reappeared. i'm going to stick with the mx 25's for now as i have not had a rough patch for a while, although i'm seriously considering a set of x-forged as a second set for when i get better or i lose my swing. the only reason for giving it 4 * was the price.

Like that'll work!

Heh.

The only way I could convince my wife to let me get new clubs now (bought new ones 7 months ago) is to find a deal where I either make money or break even. Which is convinient because I found a set of MP-57s for $600 and I can probably sell my MX-25s for about that much. I'll have to think about it.

Re: Callway X-Forged

I am in my fourth year of playing, usuallly shoot mid 90s, but have struggled to identify my best swing plane. Bought the X-20 Tours this summer, with Project X 5.0, and really liked them. Just for pure giggles, last week I bought 8 iron through pitching wedge in the X Forged. Much to my surprise, I seem to be hitting them better (at least off the mats) than my X-20 Tours. For some reason, it just seems so much easier to set up square. Maybe it is just a matter of I'm concentrating more, but my contact has been cleaner with the Forged. No change in left/right patterns, but I do seem to lost about ten yards when I don't catch it clean. I'm leaning towards buying the 7 iron in the X Forged and trying a mixed set with 6 and below in the X20 Tours.
