I cant' fix this !
I played my second round of the season yesterday, the course I play is a Robert Trent Jones links style course, par 72. It's a great course and I guess when he designed this track he was intent in catching tee shots with any kind of a hook in his fairway bunkers. In all I am not too unhappy with scores of 82 and 80, it's the start of the season, fairways are damp and temperatures are quite cold. It was definately feast or famine with my driver off the tee in both rounds, it was either long and straight or an ugly hard hook. I can't feel anything different, I have no clue as to why I'm hitting hard hooks into fairway bunkers, making matters worse is the comments from my playing partners " gee that looked like a real nice swing you put on that ". One of my playing partners hits a lovely, consistant tee shot with the driver, it has a gentle little fade, if I had that shot I would have easily scored in the seventies both rounds. I'm sure you will agree approach shots from around 150 yards from fairway bunkers with high lips makes pars very difficult. So before this season starts I hope I can find not only why I'm hooking the ball but how to fix it.
